NASA STS 115 Mission: When UFO Delayed Space Shuttle Landing To Earth For 24 Hours

During the STS-115 mission of the space shuttle Atlantis, many unidentified flying objects were sighted and filmed, some of which appeared to be controlled simultaneously. The landing planned for September 20, 2006, was also postponed by NASA by 24 hours due to bad weather and a rectangular unidentified flying object, which flew below the space shuttle at the same speed for hours.

On September 19, 2006, when the crew members of Atlantis were preparing for their return home, they informed the Mission Control Center that, following the test of the reaction control system, an object was seen moving in a co-orbital path with the Orbiter. The astronauts spotted the object using an onboard TV camera, but unfortunately, the resolution of the images was not high enough to identify the object.

A 2006 news report by Tariq Malik of shows the gravity of the incident and how seriously NASA and the astronauts tackled the situation.

“The question is ‘What is it?’” NASA’s shuttle program manager Wayne Hale said at the time, adding that the object – which appeared small and dark against blue Earth in the video – could be something as simple as ice, ceramic cloth gap-filler, or a piece of harmless shim stock plastic known to be dangling from Atlantis’ heat shield. “Is it something benign like that, which we have seen before, or is it something more critical that we should pay attention to?”

NASA Spaceflight wrote about the mystery object the same day as the article was released stating: “Shuttle Atlantis’ return home has been moved back a day, until Thursday morning, due to poor weather at the Kennedy Space Center, and continued analysis by NASA managers/Tiger Team to ascertain what an Unidentified Falling Object (UFO) may be after it was spotted near the orbiter.”

‘We have spent the day talking about the plan for tomorrow,” said Hale. “We have not yet had a definitive characterization of that apparently very small object (we observed) in the video. We don’t have any more information, apart from that it was a dark color.”

“It appears to be tumbling, and it also appears to be rectangular in shape, but we have no scale to reference with that photography – so we still have a bit of a mystery there.”

“But we have decided, seen as we have the time and we have the capability that we will go off and do a survey of the critical parts of the orbiter. We have already cleared many parts of the orbiter (through that data),” confirmed Hale. “And we’ve spotted nothing missing.”

But the object was not alone. The astronauts quickly spotted more objects near the shuttle. At the time, Atlantis commander Brent Jett described the mysterious objects as two rings. He told Mission Control that the first object, about 30 meters from the shuttle, was “a reflective cloth or a mechanic looking-cloth… It’s not a solid metal structure.”

“It doesn’t look like anything I’ve seen outside the shuttle,” Jett said. He suggested the three objects might have come from the Russian Soyuz vehicle, which docked with the International Space Station early Wednesday. (Source)

Mission Control told him that Soyuz was likely too far below the shuttle, and that the closest the two space vehicles came to each other was 32 kilometers or around 20 miles.

It must be noted that during the NASA Space Shuttle program, countless mysterious objects were spotted not only near NASA’s Space Shuttles but near the International Space Station as well.

NASA has been accused of a significant cover-up over an archive photo that some claim shows an “organic alien craft.” Self-proclaimed Twaina-based UFO researcher Scott Waring shared a mysterious photo from a NASA archive that shows a strange object, floating in space. The space agency declared the object as “unidentified.” (Source)

S115-E-07201 (19 Sept. 2006) — This picture of unidentified possible small debris was recorded with a digital still camera by astronaut Daniel Burbank onboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis around 11 a.m. (CDT) today. Engineers do not believe this to be the same object seen in video taken by shuttle TV cameras earlier in the day. Image credit: NASA

“Hey, guess what? I found never before seen video footage of a UFO seen from the space shuttle Atlantis during the STS115 mission. Also, I found an organic UFO which I believe to be a living animal recorded with a digital still camera by astronaut Daniel Burbank. Both objects were recorded on the same mission!

Do you remember when I interviewed shuttle astronaut Leland Melvin? He told me he saw something ‘translucent, curved, organic looking’ when he was working with colleague Randy Bresnik.

Well, I got a close-up photo of a similar life form recorded from shuttle Atlantis and it’s going to blow your mind. It looks just like a jellyfish and even has a laid small egg near it.

The raw footage records a UFO in upper earth’s orbit for three minutes. As you probably remember, the shuttle Atlantis landing was delayed for 48 hours back in Sept of 2006 because they said on live world news that the shuttle was being followed by several UFOs and some are so close that the shuttle deems it could be dangerous to move out of orbit at this time.”

Below is the video of Astronaut Heidemarie Stefanyshyn Piper where she tried to report a UFO sighting but passes out twice.
